Buffering Heads 2013 Victory Stakes Field

April 24th, 2013

Queensland’s reigning horse of the year Buffering heads a quality seven-horse field for the Group 2 2013 Victory Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday.

The gritty speedster has drawn barrier three for his Victory Stakes title defence which is often used as a lead-up to the big Group 1 sprints at the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Buffering hasn’t been seen since the spring carnival where he won the Group 2 Moir Stakes and Schillaci Stakes before finishing unplaced at Group 1 level in the Manikato Stakes and the Patinack Farm Classic.

Out to take down Queensland’s number one galloper are Tony Gollan’s pair of sprint brothers Spirit Of Boom and Temple Of Boom.

Both have proven competitive in top tier races and are joined in this field by lesser-rated stablemate Listen Son.

Fellow local Startsmeup steps out for new trainer John Meagher for the first time.

Two southern visitors will head north to take on the Queenslanders with Peter Moody entering consistent sprinter Ready To Rip and Peter Snowden hoping for a form turnaround from Albrecht.

Albrecht was a Group 1 placegetter last spring but is yet to place in four autumn starts.

It doesn’t matter who you like in the Victory Stakes this weekend, you can get great odds at bookmaker.com.au, who have a huge range of betting options and a $500 bonus bet offer for new customers.
